The Wildwoods are a group of five municipalities in Cape May County, New Jersey, all of which are situated on the Island of Five Mile Beach, a barrier island facing the Atlantic Ocean. These Jersey Shore communities have relatively small year-round populations and swell significantly during the summer with vacationers.

July 28, 2020 – Wildwood Mayor Pete Byron, the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement & Development Authority (GWTIDA) and the Boardwalk Special Improvement District (BSID) announce the return of Friday Night Fireworks on the FREE Wildwood’s beach! Fireworks will light up the sky on the Rio Grande Avenue Beach behind the famous Wildwoods sign beginning Friday, August 7 at 10 p.m., and continue every Friday night through September 4 with a rain/wind date of Sundays at 9 p.m. Wildwood and many other towns had to cancel July 4th fireworks amid the pandemic because the draw that weekend brings of large crowds, making social distancing difficult.
