Philadelphia, PAMama’s Meatballs, Pizzeria & Food Truck - This was a great day to be the cheesesteak guy. I thought I knew the New Jersey cheesesteak scene pretty well. Apparently, I do not. I saw a post online for Mama’s Meatballs & Pizzeria. It looked delicious, and I was looking for a place in New Jersey to meet a guest eater, a crazy foodie from Instagram. Bonus for the cheesesteak guy is that Double Nickel is 5 minutes from Mama’s Meatballs.

While I was ordering, I realized the woman taking my order was the face on their logo. I was wearing my logo Drive to 1,000 t-shirts, complete with my face. Cruzyfoodie had his High St Concepts logo t-shirt on. We took a fun logo t-shirt picture. Mama’s meatballs logo is Kat, the co-owner. Mama’s Meatballs is a family business. Kat’s husband was prepping pizza dough, her sister-in-law was on the grill, and her son was on lunch break, but he took our logo t-shirt picture.

Two of us and Mama’s are famous for her meatballs, so we got a cheesesteak and meatball sandwich. Mama’s Meatballs’ cheesesteak and meatballs are amazing. Meatball digression - her ‘Balboa’ meatball made with Sweet Italian sausage won Best of Philly.

We ate our sandwiches at Double nickel, which is a fantastic place to eat amazing sandwiches. We got a cheesesteak with fried onions, mushrooms, and cooper sharp. It was terrific and dripping with cheese. We got a Mama’s style meatball sandwich with half Balboa meatballs and the other half traditional meatballs. My limited vocabulary won’t do Mama justice, so I will stop typing so you can watch the video.

Drive TO 1,000! 879 Different cheesesteaks eaten in the last 3 years. I’ll be at 1,000 different cheesesteaks by the end of the year. I love guest eaters; DM me to join me. Actually, I will join you at your favorite spot.
