- The James Beard Foundation has made the decision to postpone its annual James Beard Awards until the summer of 2020. The delay involves the James Beard Media Awards (initially slated for Friday, April 24, in New York City), the Leadership Awards (Sunday, May 3, in Chicago), as well as the Restaurant & Chef Awards (Monday, May 4, in Chicago).
James Beard Foundation Postpones Awards Until Summer 2020
James Beard Foundation Women’s Initiatives Fundraiser featuring an all-star, all-women lineup of Philadelphia-based chefs and purveyors slated for March 23, 2020, at Triple Bottom Brewing has also been postponed. However, as of now, the nominee announcement is going to still be made on March 25 at Philadelphia as planned.
The Foundation is going to continue to work along with its partners in the coming weeks to determine new dates for all three Awards ceremonies. As well as work together with chefs and others to determine the economic impact, this particular pandemic will probably have on the food industry.
