- The 14th Annual Great Chefs Event Philadelphia is back on Saturday, June 8, 2019. The family-friendly affair brings culinary A-listers from all-around the country together for a mouthwatering event with proceeds going to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).
In a continuous effort to increase funding as well as draw attention to childhood cancer, Philly's very own Chef Marc Vetri will once again hold The Great Chefs Event Philadelphia on Saturday, June 8, 2019. This is a one-of-a-kind culinary arts celebration, sponsored by Northwestern Mutual and Volvo. Will host a little more than 40 chefs coming from all around the country to strike up their own signature dishes at the Urban Outfitters HQ inside the Philadelphia Navy Yard from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Liz and Jay Scott, mom, and dad of founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott, are going to talk about how Alex and her lemonade stand influenced a nationwide fund-raising movement to help support progressive childhood cancer research.
Marc Vetri and Business Partner Jeff Benjamin met Liz and Jay over 14 years ago and, were touched by Alex’s story and had sought a way to support the Scotts cause. The first Great Chefs Event was born bringing together 8 local chefs as well as 100 guests, to raise $50,000 for ALSF. Ever since its premiere back in 2005, The Great Chefs Event, Philadelphia has inspired similar culinary fund-raisers in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Inside 2018, the Great Chefs Philadelphia event ad single-handily raised a little over $340,000.
This year’s chefs’ were hand-selected by local Chef Marc Vetri include friends and colleagues out of LA, NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, DC and more to share their own signature plates.
The chefs will offer their time, talent and of course great food, generating mouth-watering samples showcasing their own personalized flair. Participants include Jen Carroll (Philadelphia), Nick Elmi (Philadelphia), Jose Garces (Philadelphia), Alex Guarnaschelli (NYC), Jon Shook & Vinny Dotolo (LA), Greg Vernick (Philadelphia), Rocco Whalen (Cleveland) together with a few more big names. Joining the chef line-up will be the 2019 Mixologists include Neal Bodenheimer (New Orleans) and Naren Young (NYC) and back by popular demand for its second year is going to be the Beer Garden.
