Pennsauken, NJ - Is the new gold standard for craft beer drinking and cheesesteak eating. I have eaten over 880 cheesesteaks in the last three years, but I am no one-trick pony.
Where to Grab A Beer and Cheesesteak in Pennsauken
I also drink massive quantities of beer. I may have killed hundreds of thousands of brain cells. However, my taste buds still work great. I know when I am eating a great cheesesteak and drinking an excellent beer, especially when I am doing it together.
Two of my three favorite things live side by side by side in Pennsauken. I know, Cockadoodle Dan's is in Palmyra. Pennsauken, do yourself a favor and take credit for Cockadoodle Dan's. Double Nickel Brewing sits between Mama's Meatballs and Cockadoodle Dan's. With each being approximately 1.5 miles away. I can't do the exact math, but there must be over one thousand food and beer combinations between the three of them, with each one being better than the last.
My first stop was Cockadoodle Dan's. I met guest eater Bill and his friend Mike. We had a little communication breakdown and ate our cheesesteaks at Cockadoodle Dan's before going to Double Nickel for a beer. Cockadoodle Dan's, as the name would imply, is known for his chicken wings and sauces. Don't be afraid of his wing success. He makes a great cheesesteak.
It was Sunday afternoon, and I was a little concerned when I saw a millennial crew working. The team made Dan very proud. Maybe millennial worker problems may be a management style problem?? Great cheesesteak, and I was a little disappointed that I wasn't drinking beer at Double Nickel while we ate it. I wasn't going to make that mistake twice.
A few weeks later, I met guest eater @Cruzyfoodie on Instagram for a cheesesteak at Mama's Meatballs. We agreed ahead of time to eat our Mama's Meatballs at Double Nickel. Sidebar - Am I the only one that finds it curious that the best cheesesteaks in Pennsauken come from places without cheesesteak in their name? - Great family and story at Mama's Meatballs. Great, a very cheesy cheesesteak from Mamas.
Double Nickel may be the perfect place to eat cheesesteaks. Indoor and outdoor seating. Games inside and outside. Separate seating areas inside and out. Great variety of beers. Double Nickel Brewing, please work on ziplines/drones/or anything that can get Mama's and Dan's food delivered to hungry people at your place quickly.
