1) Plan Ahead

Making a checklist and packing your things properly before leaving is an excellent way to avoid going out of town without a towel. When visiting Cape may in new jersey, there are plenty of things to do and places to visit; make sure you have them all planned out beforehand so you don't have any last-minute headaches (or panics). 2) The Weather Is Hot and Humid

If you're visiting Cape May in summer or early fall, be prepared for hot and humid weather. If it's going to be scorching hot or raining cats and dogs, there are indoor options at many local businesses; take advantage of them!

3) Parking Can Be A Challenge

Parking can be a challenge in and around Cape May. In some cases, you may have to park far from your destination and walk there; if you plan to walk, wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if it rains. If parking is not available at your final destination, don't forget that many businesses offer free parking just outside their property. Be sure to ask when reserving or checking in.

4) Take In Some Water Activities

While visiting Cape May, take a few minutes to cool off with some outdoor water activities. From sailing and kayaking to canoeing and parasailing—and even just swimming in one of our many bay beaches—there is plenty of fun things to do on (or near) the water. The views from both land and sea are stunning. Don't forget your camera! Plus, you can capture memories that will last forever. Or at least until Instagram deletes them again.



5) Visit Local Breweries

One of our favorite things to do when visiting a new city is to check out its local breweries. And what better city than Cape May to visit? Over half a dozen breweries in and around town; some offer tours while others have tasting rooms or brewpubs that serve food. You can learn about each brewery's history, sample their beers and even purchase souvenir glasses or T-shirts! Just be sure to pace yourself— you don't want to miss any of Cape May's other attractions! We recommend starting with Cape May Brewing Company (located near the airport) and working your way down.

6) Walk Along Cape May's promenade

The famous walkway of Cape May is an ideal place to soak up some sun, get a photo-worthy view of both ocean and bay and enjoy our seaside community. Walkers can stroll as far as they like or stop at any one of many colorful shops along the way. If you're looking for something more active, rent a bike from one of several rental shops. No matter how you choose to experience it, there's no denying that visiting Cape May means taking in all that Cape May's promenade has to offer!



7) Indulge In Delicious Cuisine

One of our favorite things to do when on vacation is eat! When visiting Cape May, try some of their delicious food. You can also try some fresh seafood at one of the area's many restaurants.   If you're not a fan of seafood, no worries—there are plenty of other options available. And if you don't feel like eating out, you can always find great snacks and treats in local shops and stores. Visitors who enjoy shopping will love all that Cape May has to offer. From beautiful boutiques to souvenir shops, there's something for everyone. Check out Cape May's famous candy store while you're there. They have a fantastic selection of sweets from around the world!

8) Enjoy the Historic District

Living history abounds in Cape May. Check out some of Cape May's annual events, like Victorian Week and The Historic Cold Spring Village! Or, how about a visit to the Emlen Physick Estate? One of Cape May's original settlers built it and restored it to its former glory. You can even take a tour of it during certain times. You can also take a drive and enjoy the many Historic Victorian homes located throughout Cape May. Cape May City Rail Terminal Built-in 1876, it is considered one of America's most magnificent Victorian railway stations. This station served as an inspiration for Disney World's Main Street Station. In addition to these attractions, there are plenty of other historic things to experience in historic Cape May.

Visiting the Cape May Lighthouse

The 171-foot-tall Cape May Lighthouse is an iconic landmark that presides over The Wildwoods and Ocean City. Visitors can climb to its top, but if you're going to do so, do it at sunset—the views from up there are spectacular! The lighthouse in Cape May is one of three significant lighthouses on Delaware Bay, located just outside Cape May Harbor. It was built between 1859 and 1861 and still stands today as a functional aid to navigation with gorgeous panoramic views of seagulls and ocean waves below.

9) Ride the Ferry Across Delaware Bay

Several ferries traverse Delaware Bay, and these boats provide a fun alternative to driving. Also, they offer an opportunity to witness some of coastal New Jersey's natural beauty from a unique perspective. Suppose you visit in July or August (or even September). In that case, there's also a good chance you'll see loggerhead sea turtles crossing over as well! The ferry is not free, but parking at Cape May can be free, and the terminal has plenty of restaurants and activities for the kids to enjoy. A great day trip idea for families with small children, the ferries allow pets onboard so that you can bring your dog along too.

10) Visit During Off-Season Months For Cheaper Prices And Crowds

Most of New Jersey's fun destinations are more affordable during non-peak months. If you enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new places, try traveling to Cape May in June. The weather is nice enough to get around and not too hot or cold; fewer people come during June than other peak months, making it easier to find a place to stay. All attractions will likely have lower prices. Many hotels offer great deals on rooms during off-season months, and restaurants often offer discounts on food and drinks.
