Philadelphia, PA - Dolores', South Philly. 964th different Cheesesteak in the last four years, and it was a good day to be the cheesesteak guy. I had a special guest eater from your Philadelphia Phillies; Director of fun and games, John Brazer and the star of this, and former Hot Pants Patrol member Debbie many days.

Dolores' Deli on 2nd Street

John has vacationed with the Phillie Phanatic, and now he has eaten a cheesesteak with me. John wanted to meet close to Citizens Bank Park, and I needed a new cheesesteak for my drive to 1,000, and I wanted to make sure John had a good cheesesteak. I got my Cheesesteak from Dolores and met John at Pennsport Beer Boutique.

We were meeting at another location and I wanted to be on time for my meeting, so I called my order into Dolores'. Calling my order in was once again a mistake.

I had forgotten Dolores' incredible sandwich-making history. After calling in my order and arriving at Dolores', I learned that she has an epic Pizza Steak. My recreational Cheesesteak before the adventure was a Pizza Steak, and I got my usual Cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms.

Dolores’ uses sarcone rolls. I usually think Sarcone rolls are too dense for cheesesteaks. Still, this Cheesesteak was wrapped for at least 40 minutes and the roll loosened up nicely. I liked the mushrooms. The meat is not chopped, and I am rethinking mushrooms on not chopped cheesesteaks.

I wanted the roll, meat, and mushrooms individually. Together, not so much, but I think that is because the mushrooms have nowhere to go but on top of the meat. I grew up on chopped cheesesteaks and like everything chopped together. Dolores' pizza steak has me curious, but I think I am going back for the breakfast sandwiches. John loved Charlie's Cheesesteak. I got a little jealous because he spent a good amount of time talking Lacrosse with everyone's favorite bartender Mike. Debbie must be contemplating a Hot Pants Squad come back because she didn't eat anything.
