Don’t Take the Risk Campaign to Prevent Opioid Deaths

Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Department of Public Health launched the second phase of an emotional media campaign that is part of the City’s effort to decrease deaths related to opioid use. The campaign contains a collection of stories in English and Spanish told by people whose lives have been forever changed by prescription painkillers. Philadelphia Declares a Snow Emergency and Storm Warnings

Philadelphia, PA - The City is forecast to receive 12 to 18 inches of accumulating snow from a nor’easter that began today and is predicted to end tomorrow evening. The National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning is in effect through Thursday at 2 am.With another storm occurring, Managing Director Michael DiBerardinis announced that a Snow Emergency will be declared for the City of Philadelphia beginning 9 am on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

Mayor Kenney Creates Office on People with Disabilities

Philadelphia, PA - According to recent Census data, an estimated 16 percent of Philadelphia’s residents are people with one or more disabilities. Mayor Jim Kenney recently signed Executive Order 7-17, which formally established the Mayor’s Office on People with Disabilities.

Philadelphia Selects 27 Nominees for School Board

 Philadelphia, PA - The Educational Nominating Panel today voted to recommend 27 candidates for the new Board of Education to Mayor Jim Kenney who will make appointments to the 9-member Board. The vote was held at a public meeting in City Hall.
