Philadelphia, PA - Officers shot and killed a man who gunned down a woman during a carjacking and then opened fire on police officers during a foot pursuit.
Attempted Carjacking Leads to A Gun Battle
Police said the man had abandoned a stolen car after it got a flat tire and tried to carjack the woman’s vehicle around Chelten Avenue and Green Street, WCAU-TV reported.
The man then shot and killed the woman before driving off in her car. He then left the vehicle and fled on foot with officers in pursuit. The man then was reported to have begun shooting at the police officers, who returned fire. He was then transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
The events occurred sometime around 4’oclock in the morning in the city’s Germantown section.
