Philadelphia, PA - McCain Foods has created a competition featuring renowned chefs across North America. Chef Jen Carroll, a native of Philadelphia, will put her chef's cap in the ring and face off with three other chefs for a culinary fight to remember.
Four Operator Chefs To Participate In An Epic Throwdown
McCain Foods announced an EPIC Throwdown culinary competition, challenging four chefs in North America. The event will culminate at the National Restaurant Association Show 2023, which takes place in May.
4 Chefs. 4 Menu Concepts. one Epic Winner
Starting April 24, four chefs each week will compete to create delicious menu concepts using McCain Mini Mashers potato bits, an innovative potato shareable that was recently launched. McCain Min Mashers are versatile potato options for restaurant operators. They have a crispy exterior and a creamy interior.
Three highly-experienced judges will choose one chef's dish containing McCain mini mashers potato bites each week to win the themed battle. Each week, the chefs who have the best concept will compete at the National Restaurant Association Show.
Four Themes Have Been Identified:
- Week 1 - Global appetizer
- Week 2 – Entree
- Week 3 - Comfort food appetizer
- Week 4 - Out-of-the-box appetizer

Chef Jen will compete for the title with chefs Spike Mendelsohn, PLNT (Washington, D.C.); Victor Jacinto, Courtside (Vancouver); Brian Jupiter, Frontier (Chicago).
