Philadelphia, PAMonmouth County New Jersey - You can find great barbeque spots throughout Monmouth County, NJ.  We've reviewed some of the most popular locations below. You can try Jersey Shore BBQ in Point Pleasant Beach, Local Smoke in Red Bank & Neptune, Surf Barbecue in Rumson, and Mutiny Barbecue in Asbury Park.

Jersey Shore BBQ in Point Pleasant Beach

After being open for just a few years, Jersey Shore BBQ has announced closing its Belmar location. The location opened in 2010, and despite a pandemic and Superstorm Sandy, the local community has shown a strong appetite for barbecue. The company will continue to operate its locations in Point Pleasant Beach and East Brunswick. The restaurant serves Texas-style BBQ and has been in business for over a decade. It is famous for its smoked meats and collard greens.

It also offers sides such as mac and cheese and potato salad. Doug Walsh, the owner of Jersey Shore BBQ in Point Pleasant Beach and a similar restaurant in East Brunswick, has expanded the menu to include pizza.

Local Smoke in Red Bank & Neptune

This popular barbecue joint is a Monmouth County institution. It began as a catering business and competition barbecue team in Red Bank and eventually expanded to a standing restaurant on Rt. 35 in Neptune. It also recently opened a second location near the Joint Base in Burlington County. Local Smoke is considered one of the best BBQ restaurants in New Jersey. The restaurant serves chopped brisket, pulled pork, and ribs topped with homemade barbecue sauce. Its three locations also have CBD-infused barbecue sauces.

Surf Barbecue in Rumson

If you love barbecue but aren't sure how to get started with barbecue pits, consider visiting Surf Barbecue in Rumson, New Jersey. With outdoor seating and a relaxed atmosphere, Surf BBQ offers a relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle of Tommy's Cafe. The menu has been expanded to accommodate a wider variety of customers, and the service is excellent. Plus, you'll get to try some outstanding local cuisine.

Surf BBQ is a relatively new addition to the Jersey shore, and it's already a hit with locals. Though it only opened a few weeks ago, it's already one of the most popular spots on the beach. The restaurant serves a variety of barbecues, but its menu features prime beef smoked with a rich rub in a J&R smoker. The food is so good; it can compete with barbecue from NYC and most of Texas.

Mutiny Barbecue in Asbury Park

If you're in the Asbury Park area, you should try the newest addition to the city's food scene: Mutiny Barbecue Company. Located on Fifth Avenue next to Supreme Clientele Barber and Beauty Salon, Mutiny BBQ brings savory barbeque to the community. The food is based on a southern tradition that became popular as pitmasters learned the craft. Though barbeque was once only found in the southern and western United States, it slowly made its way north.

Mutiny BBQ is a newcomer to the area, but its influences are from various cities. The restaurant serves small batches of high-quality 'cue that's perfect for a special event. You can eat in or order take-out, and the restaurant also offers private catering for parties. While the smoked brisket is the star of this barbecue joint, it's not the only meat on the menu. The menu includes items like pork belly burnt ends, a specialty at this restaurant.
