The Wildwoods, NJ – Grab your buckets & shovels, and get ready! As competitors of all ages are invited to play in the sand to create works of art at the 9th annual "Wildwood Crest Sand Sculpting Festival."
Sand Sculptures at Wildwood Crest Beach Pier
On Friday, July 9, t0 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., the wildwood Beach at Wildwood Crest Beach Pier at Heather Road will turn into a giant sandbox.
The great American pastime of making sandcastles is coming back to the Wildwoods in a big way on the Wildwood Beach.
This year's competition will include horseshoes, cornhole, and other games, as well as live music.
This year's entertainment will include the guitar-fiddle duo C.J. and Seamus, performing many of today's pop and rock hits, along with Irish music favorites.
And, for the kids, check out the "Hocus-Pocus It's Joe Fischer" Magic Show scheduled for 11 a.m.
The festival is organized by Can You Dig It Sand Tools and directed by sand sculptor Matt Long. Long is a native of the South Jersey shore.
He is also an original cast member of the former Travel Channel Show Sand Masters. He has competed in the World Championship of Sand Sculpting.
Sculptures are judged on creativity, execution, composition, as well as their overall presentation. Prizes and awards are going to be presented to the winners in each division.
There will also be a People's Choice Award for Best on the Beach by spectator ballot.
Registration for the contest is FREE and will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 9.
