Philadelphia, PA – The South Street Headhouse District (SSHD) is excited to announce the return of its annual holiday festivities! Get festive during the most beautiful time of the year with family and friends on South Street while supporting local businesses. On Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the South Street Tree Lighting Ceremony will occur at the Headhouse Shambles (2nd & Pine Street).
Guests can enjoy a meet-and-greet with Santa from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., live performances from Settlement Music School, and a pop-up holiday market presented in collaboration with the Sisterly Love Collective that showcases the talent of small businesses and local creators with an additional focus on Women-Owned Businesses.
The festivities continue on Monday, December 11th at 4:45 p.m., when SSHD hosts a Headhouse Festival of Lights and ceremonial Menorah Lighting with communities and clergy from three local synagogues: B’nai Abraham, Kesher Israel Congregation, and Society Hill Synagogue. Guests should arrive by 4:45 p.m. to enjoy light refreshments before the Menorah Lighting that begins at 5 p.m., followed by celebration and song under the historic Headhouse Shambles!
Beginning November 16th through December 24th, shoppers can get a head start on their holiday shopping by participating in SSHD’s South Street Holiday Haul for a chance to win big prizes from SSHD businesses, including Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, Repo Records, Queen & Rook Game Cafe & more! Customers will have the opportunity to win a shopping spree worth over $200 by shopping at over 40 businesses in the district and earn additional chances to win by sharing photos or selfies from their visit using #SouthStreetHolidayHaul on social media platforms
