Philadelphia, PA - After nine incredibly successful years in business, Guru's Indian Cuisine, a beloved restaurant nestled in Newtown, is preparing to temporarily close its doors. This decision comes as owners Ashni "Baba" Kumar and Priya Guru embark on a challenging and emotional journey to adopt two young sisters from India.
The process of adoption has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, leaving the couple physically and emotionally drained. With the hope of completing this remarkable journey, the Gurus have made the difficult decision to travel to India in the near future.
The final day of service at Guru's Indian Cuisine will be on Sunday, January 7, 2024. However, before bidding farewell to their loyal customers, the Gurus are hosting a heartfelt and joyful public farewell celebration on Thursday, January 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event promises to be a night to remember, complete with complimentary cocktails and delectable hors d'oeuvres. To support a cause close to their hearts, the Gurus kindly request a $20 donation, with all proceeds going directly to Guru's Guardian Angels, their nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and providing shelter for stray animals across the world.
Priya expressed her bittersweet emotions, sharing that while it is challenging to temporarily close their beloved restaurant, they are excited and determined to return in the spring of 2024, bigger and better than ever.
