- Distrito, Chef Jose Garces’ lively and vibrant taqueria in University City, celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a block party on Saturday, September 8th. Distrito is the third restaurant in the group to achieve this milestone anniversary.
The daylong fiesta hosted by Distrito will take place on Chestnut Street between 39th and 40th streets in University City. The family-friendly event will be hosted under a tent, where guests can enjoy live entertainment, a beer garden, food, drinks, and giveaways.
There will be a “kid zone’ featuring family-friendly activities like coloring, face painting, piñatas, and more.
The block party will feature food and drinks from Garces’ two Mexican concepts, Distrito and Buena Onda. Ticket price includes premier access to the daylong fiesta, two tacos, and choice of beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).
In the week leading up to the Block Party, all of Garces’ Philadelphia restaurants celebrated the anniversary with $5 Distrito-inspired margarita, prizes and giveaways throughout the week leading up the block party. Participating restaurants include Amada, Tinto, Distrito, JG Domestic, The Olde Bar, Village Whiskey, Volver and Buena Onda.
