Philadelphia, PA - JR'S Saloon has been in business for over 40 years and is serving up some of the best food in the city, it’s family-owned and operated by James Rowson, and you can always find either James, his wife or son in the bar. located at 2663 E Norris St, Philadelphia, PA 19125.
I have had some of my best meals from local, family-owned bars and restaurants; there is just something about having a delicious meal, and made by people who genuinely care about the food they are serving their customers.
Jr’s uses the highest quality ingredients, but somehow sell their food at an incredibly low price, their pound and a half "Big Daddy" cheesesteak. Their Fisherman's Platter is enormous and contains seven different types of fried fish, scallops and more, and would cost double in Center City.
My favorite item was the 14oz crock of French Onion Soup, I was walking through Center City and noticed that the average price for a cup of French Onion Soup is much higher, JR'S gives you almost double the amount, at half the price.
So why should anyone travel into Center City, when they can come to a friendly, neighborhood bar in Fishtown and get a lot higher quality, at crazy, low prices.
Remember, there are small businesses, putting out incredible food, so always look to eat at local, small businesses 1st, such as JR'S Saloon, and you'll be surprised by some of the great food you'll find and the incredibly low prices
