Philadelphia, PA - This was Cheesesteak number 871 on my quest to eat 1000 different cheesesteaks. Special guest eater Hank Collins joined me. Hank played a bigger "roll" (misspelled and lousy pun intended) in the day's events than we had planned.
The Better Box Twisted EggRolls and Neshaminy Creek Brewing
We took our food to Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company. The Better Box Twisted EggRolls is known for its Chinese Takeout with a Philly twist. Since there were two of us, we got a cheesesteak, Philly Twist EggRoll, and their signature sandwich General Tao's chicken cheesesteak.
Sidebar - I love Neshaminy Creek brewing. One word to describe Neshaminy Creek brewing; is big. They have an extensive selection of beers and ciders and a giant indoor sitting area. They also have a big outdoor sitting area and a small amount of parking, and a bathroom. Plus, they are Kid and dog-friendly.
The General Tso's Chicken Cheesesteak and Philly Twist Eggroll were both very good. We started with the eggroll. The meat and cheese were mixed very well. I was tender and a joy to eat. It got me excited for the cheesesteak. Still, my lasting memory is disappointment in the cheesesteak, not happiness from the chicken cheesesteak nor egg roll.
When we opened the container for General Tso's Chicken Cheesesteak, it was very colorful and well-made. I opened the box for the cheesesteak and had an instant flashback to when I was 10 years old on Christmas morning. I found a gift under the Christmas tree from Santa when I ripped open the package and found underwear.
Not only was it bland and smaller than the container, but the meat looked dry. The meat was dry, and the cheese was on the bottom. How can the eggroll meat/cheese be incredible and the cheesesteak meat/cheese be this?
Cheesesteak 0%. Furthermore, General Tso Chicken Cheesesteak 150% creative, saucy, and tasty. Lastly, I wouldn't say I liked the bread/roll for either sandwich, and the bread was very dense. Plus, with every bite, something was pushed out of the roll.
For an Eggroll and Chicken Cheesesteak, adventurers go to The Better Box Twisted Rolls. Cheesesteak adventurers probably not. Everyone goes to Neshaminy Creek Brewing.
Drive TO 1000! 871 Different cheesesteaks eaten in the last 3 years. I'll be at 1,000 different cheesesteaks by the end of the year. I love guest eaters; DM me to join me. Actually, I will join you at your favorite spot.
