Philadelphia, PA - My 1,244th different cheesesteak took me to Libertee Grounds in Philadelphia, a spot with a really cool concept and a great atmosphere. Right off the bat, the visit started with a win: I found parking right on Girard Avenue!
Walking in, I'm a big fan of their industrial decor. It's a cool, modern space. My only note on the atmosphere is that it was a little loud; I think the sound bounces off those industrial walls for a little longer than it needs to. It was a lively crowd, including two different groups of young women all decked out in black leather outfits, which was an interesting observation.
I settled in at the bar and had a lovely chat with the young couple next to me—always one of the best parts of this adventure. I ordered a beer from a brewery in New Jersey, and I loved it. I've already made a note that I'll be going there to check them out soon.
Now, for the food. The cheesesteak came with a side of french fries, and I have to say, the fries were seasoned very well. They were a definite highlight.
But what about the cheesesteak itself? Well, the cheesesteak was average at best.
My final verdict? Libertee Grounds is a fantastic place to hang out. The beer is great, the fries are tasty, the decor is cool, and the people are friendly. It's a spot I'd definitely recommend for a fun night out. But if you're on a quest for a top-tier cheesesteak, this one didn't make my list.
