MARYLAND – Get ready, Maryland! The popular Atlanta-headquartered quick-service chicken finger restaurant Zaxby's is officially expanding into the Old Line State, with its first Maryland locations anticipated to open by the end of 2025. This exciting move will bring Zaxby's renowned chicken fingers, signature sauces, and unique fast-casual experience to several communities across the state.
The initial wave of Zaxby's eateries will mark the chain's entry into key Maryland counties:
- Baltimore County: New restaurants are planned for Nottingham and Rosedale.
- Anne Arundel County: A location is underway in Glen Burnie.
- Howard County: Ellicott City will also welcome a new Zaxby's.
These first locations in the greater Baltimore area will be operated by franchisee Lattakia Group LLC. "We believe strongly in Zaxby's mission to deliver high-quality food that truly resonates with guests," a representative of Lattakia Group LLC said in a release. "The brand's dedication to quality and its focus on community perfectly aligns with our own values. We're excited to introduce this beloved concept to our hometown in the coming years."
Zaxby's Chief Development Officer, Mike Mettler, echoed this enthusiasm, stating, "Baltimore offers an incredible opportunity for us. We're confident they'll [Lattakia Group] help us introduce Zaxby's to local residents and support our continued momentum across the area. This marks the beginning of our presence in Baltimore and nearby communities."
The Eastern Shore is also a key part of Zaxby's Maryland expansion strategy. The first Eastern Shore location is slated to open in Cambridge this year (2025), with additional eateries planned for Easton and the Berlin-West Ocean City area. These locations will be operated by franchisees Curtis and Teresa Snyder alongside Thomas Mitchell.
For those unfamiliar, Zaxby's, founded in 1990 in Statesboro, Georgia, by college friends Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley, has grown to over 970 locations in 17 states. The chain is celebrated for its:
- Chicken Fingerz™ and Wings: Cooked-to-order and a fan favorite.
- Signature Sauces: Offering a wide array of 12 distinct sauces to customize any meal.
- Zalads® and Sandwiches: Fresh salads and hearty chicken sandwiches.
While the company is still in the process of vetting some sites, meaning exact addresses for all locations are not yet public, the initial openings are anticipated to be available by the end of 2025. This Maryland expansion is part of a broader strategic push for Zaxby's along the East Coast, with additional locations also planned for Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York City.
