This “Field-to-Fork Agritourism Experience” Tour is the latest in a series of food tours offered by Savor Gettysburg, which also offers tours throughout Downtown Gettysburg and culinary tours for group travelers.

“This is an exciting next step for Savor Gettysburg Food Tours,” said Lori Korczyk, of Savor Gettysburg Food Tours. “This tour is perfect for experienced foodies and those just expanding their interest in farm-grown food and cooking.”

The tour includes a stop at a local dairy where Alpine goats roam on open pasture and participants will learn about how artisan goat cheese is made; and an orchard where guests will harvest fruit fresh from its pick-your-own orchard as well as a tasting of local wine and cider in the orchard’s wine cellar. This new experience also includes harvesting herbs and vegetables, learning how Shitake mushrooms are grown and bees are raised, to collecting eggs from free range chickens.

At the final destination, a local chef will combine all of the products collected throughout the day into a fabulous meal that will be served (weather-dependent) under the spreading arms of the farm's enormous maple tree as part of a “truly rare field-to-fork experience,” said Korczyk.

The “Field-to-Fork” tour will be held July 22, Aug. 19 and Sept. 9. The cost is $125.

Savor Gettysburg Food Tours kicks off April 1 and this year includes the Historic Downtown Food Tour; Wine, Cider & Dine Tour; Comfort Food Tour and Farmer’s Market Tour & Cooking Class.

“Our goal is to introduce the amazing food culture we have in Gettysburg to both locals and travelers alike,” said Korczyk. “Gettysburg is known for its rich history, great shops and delicious restaurants, but many people are often unsure where to venture first, or they simply want to try new things. Our tour gives the food and wine lover a unique and delicious view of Gettysburg.”
