Kildares Downtown West Chester: A New Take on an Old Tradition

Nothing draws a crowd to downtown West Chester like a 75 degree day in the middle of February. Last week’s uncharacteristically warm weather offered a tease of the summer season that makes the streets of West Chester come alive.

This year, patrons will enjoy many new spots in town, but one of the most incredible places for a good bite to eat has been a familiar staple of the West Chester scene for years.

Kildare’s Irish Pub has been under new ownership since 2015. The new and improved Kildare’s boasts the same combination of classic tradition and vibrant social scene that echoes West Chester itself. Owners Dane and Stephanie Gray found the perfect balance- taking the best parts of an old fashioned Irish Pub, adding a completely revamped menu and combining that with the nightlife Kildare’s has always been known for. “It’s not just somewhere to drink,” Dane says “it’s a place to eat a good meal, tell stories or just spend some time in.”Kildare’s Irish Pub has been under new ownership since 2015. Behind the scenes of Kildare’s old-fashioned aesthetic is an all-star kitchen led by Stephanie, a Culinary Institute of America graduate. The menu poses a challenge for those who have difficulty making decisions. The appetizer section alone offers a variety of options, from Ultimate Loaded Fries to Balsamic Brussels Sprouts. The Grilled Salmon Salad is a customer favorite, along with its three varieties of tacos. On the more traditional side, they offer a Reuben, Corned Beef and Cabbage, and the classic Bangers and Mash. Pair any of these with one of Kildare’s 26 beers on tap, including those from a few local breweries.

Needless to say, rediscovering this well-known Irish Pub leaves us wanting so much more—and with so many options to choose from, there’s always more to discover! Follow their blog to stay in touch with Kildare’s, and don’t miss out on all the great events to come.
