Gettysburg, Pennsylvania - All around Gettysburg, as the town awaits the season's first snow, excitement builds for the holiday season. Then with the flip of the switch, a gigantic tree in the center of town will light up Lincoln square and just like that it's officially the holiday season in Gettysburg, Pa.
Gettysburg Holiday Season Happening and Events
The yearly Christmas Tree Lighting will kick off this years holiday season on Nov. 23 at Lincoln Square. The following week the holiday season continues alongside a variety of festive events. On Dec. 1, the inaugural Gettysburg Christmas Festival is going to take over the downtown area. The community will be divided up into six themed areas- most notably a Civil War Christmas, a Colonial, a Victorian Christmas and also a Roaring 20's Christmas, all with their very own events and activities. Gettysburg annual Christmas parade plus the Gingerbread Festival will also be apart of the Christmas Festivities this year. Christmas carolers will sing during the day, and Santa Clause himself will make an appearance on the Square. The festival will likely be more than enough to for the Scrooge to welcome the holiday season himself.
Talking about Scrooge, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol will take the stage at the Majestic Theater. Take pleasure in this classic Christmas tale; the show will start on Dec. 14th through the 23rd.
Moreover, don’t forget to catch the Annual Holiday Tuba Carol Fest. On Dec. 14, tuba participants of all ages from all around the nation will assemble on the steps of the Gettysburg Hotel for Annual Holiday Tuba Carol Fest.
The season finale wraps up with a New Year’s Eve party on Lincoln Square. During the evening hours, party goers will delight in great food, entertainment and ultimately, fireworks above Lincoln Square.
