PhillyBite10Philadelphia, PA - The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) has announced the summer schedule for Performances in Public Spaces, a free series of family-friendly, cultural performances in parks and plazas throughout Philadelphia neighborhoods from June through October.

The series is part of OACCE’s Arts in Action initiative that regularly brings quality arts programming to communities across Philadelphia and supports local, creative talent. Performances in Public Spaces include music, theatre, dance and film experiences. The 2018 series will begin on Wednesday, June 6 with a performance by Opera Philadelphia’s T-VOCE at Headhouse Shambles.

This year, Performances in Public Spaces includes 45 free events and 20 participating artists or organizations, with 11 new participating artists. New performances include Der Vorfuhreffekt Theatre’s production of “Feast of Fools” at the Open Kitchen Sculpture Garden, Danse4nia Repertory Ensemble’s dance performance at Gorgas Park, and a concert by the Philly POPS at Vernon Park.

Performances in Public Spaces is an opportunity for Philadelphians to enjoy the city’s open spaces, discover new cultural experiences and support local creative talent,” said Kelly Lee, Chief Cultural Officer. “This series takes quality performances from the theatre stages and brings them to outdoor spaces in Philadelphia communities.”

The full list of Performances in Public Spaces events can be found on OACCE’s Arts Access Calendar alongside other free cultural events happening across the city. With summer approaching, the Arts Access Calendar is the resource for Philadelphians to find free, arts events happening in their communities. The comprehensive listing connects families, groups, and individuals seeking affordable and meaningful experiences with cultural activities. The events can be filtered to search by day, program or discipline.
