Philadelphia, PAPhiladelphia Eagles -Formed in 1933, the Philadelphia Eagles have won several trophies, including 16 division titles, four Championships, and Super Bowl LII. Since its inception, its roster has featured dozens of talented players in NFL history. Therefore, it is difficult to pick top athletes since each of them had a significant impact on the Eagle’s performance.

Further, it’s not easy to rank the top players because they are featured in different rosters. Besides, the game tactics and rules of play have evolved over the years. Hence, what athletes accomplished in the 1930s might be impossible in the modern era. In no specific order, here are some of the greatest Eagles’ athletes ever.

Chuck Bednarik

Bednarik was a center and a linebacker for the Eagles from 1949 to 1962. He was an excellent defender while playing as a linebacker, which helped his team to dominate the game.

While playing with Philadelphia Eagles, he won the NFL championships two times and eight Pro Bowl titles. Additionally, he appeared in the first-team selection ten times as an All-Pro player. As a result, he was selected to the Eagles’ 75th-anniversary team and Hall of Fame.

Reggie White

White played eight seasons with the team from 1985-92. He was good on the defensive end and recorded the highest number of sacks in the franchise’s history. The athlete was a top NFL Defender two times and a first-team All-Pro eight times. He won Pro Bowl 13 times and was featured in the Pro Hall of Fame.

Brian Dawkins

The four time first-team All-Pro player was effective at stopping offensive players from making a touchdown. He played for the Eagles between 1996 and 2008, winning nine Pro Bowls. In the 75th anniversary, he was elected to the Hall of Fame, and the club retired his jersey (No. 20).

Steve Van Buren

As a running back, Buren recorded 60 touchdowns and 5860 rushing yards while playing for the Eagles.  He played for the Eagles between 1944 and 1951, winning two NFL Championships.

Buren was a 5x first-team All-Pro running back. He was featured in the 75th and 100th anniversaries and was selected for the Pro Hall of Fame.

Donovon McNabb

As a quarterback, McNabb recorded 216 touchdowns and threw 32,873 yards for the Eagles. McNabb played 11 seasons with the Eagles (from 1999 to 2009), helping the team win six Pro Bowls and dominating NFC East. He is also among the few players in the Eagle’s Hall of Fame.

Brian Westbrook

Westbrook was on the Eagles’ roster from 2002-09. In the eight seasons, he was selected as the first-team All-Pro one time (in 2007) and won Pro Bowl two times. He was a consistent running back, landing 12 touchdowns and recording 2,104 yards.

Jason Peters

During his career with the Eagles, Peters won Super Bowl LII and nine Pro Bowls.  He was among the best offensive linemen in the NFL and was selected to the first-team All-Pro two times.

Eric Allen

The player was the Eagle’s cornerback from 1988-94. During this period, he won six Pro Bowls and appeared in the 1989 first-team All-Pro squad. Also, he recorded 34 interceptions and five defensive touchdowns. Lastly, he was nominated for the club’s Hall of Fame and selected for the 75th-anniversary team.

Harold Carmichael

Carmichael is a former wide receiver who played for the Eagles between 1971 and 1983. He was known for his speed and lengthy arms, which made him a great receiver. While with the Eagles, he won four Pro Bowls and was in the second-team All-Pro twice.

Although injuries affected his consistency, he recorded 79 touchdowns and threw 8978 yards. Surprisingly, Carmichael features in the Pro Hall of Fame and the 75th-anniversary team.

Fletcher Cox

Cox joined the Eagles in 2012 and plays in the defensive tackle position. He is still active and appeared in the first-team All-Pro squad in 2018. As of January 2023, he has won six Pro Bowls and the Super Bowl LII.

Other awards include 3× Second-team All-Pro and PFWA All-Rookie Team (2012). His current player stats indicate he has three defensive touchdowns, 65 Sacks, 14 Pass Deflections, and 486 tackles. If you use football sportsbook software as a NFL punter, you can compare Cox’s future odds on different bookmakers and place your stake.

Conclusion

In summary, the are some of the top athletes featured in the Eagles’ previous and current rosters. However, the list might not be comprehensive since the franchise had many good players, even before the Super Bowl era. However, our outline is based on stats and accomplishments, so not all top scorers can be selected.
