Philadelphia, PA - Police are investigating several ATM skimming devices at muiltiple locations in Philadelphia. Recovered from the ATM by the assigned was one (1) pin recording camera and SD Card attached. Also recovered from this ATM, one (1) Green overlay skimming device.
Store surveillance video was recovered on February 1, 2018, at 11:49 am, and depicts an unknown white male who entered the Sunoco. This male went directly to the ATM and attached the devices. He then leaves the store on foot and was last seen east on Stenton Avenue. This suspect was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue jeans and a multi colored baseball cap.
Time Line:
- On January 30, 2018, Major Crimes received a report of Access Device Fraud/Theft at a Sunoco Gas Station located at 2601 Penrose Avenue when a customer experienced technical difficulties with their ATM. Store staff assisted the customer and unexpectedly pulled a green globe overlay from the ATM. This overlay was fraudulently affixed to the machine and allows the suspect to intercept card account information.
- On February 1, 2018, at approximately 12:01 pm, Major Crimes received a report of Access Device Fraud/Theft at a Sunoco Gas Station located at 4168 Ridge Avenue when a customer pulled a green globe overlay skimming device from the ATM. This overlay was fraudulently affixed to the machine and allows the suspect to intercept card account information.
- On February 1, 2018, at approximately 2:15 pm, Major Crimes received a report of Access Device Fraud/Theft at a Sunoco Gas Station located at 8261 Stenton Avenue when a customer discovered a device on the ATM.
