Philadelphia, PA - (May 31, 2024)—Philly's Pride Month celebrations started with a vibrant event at the Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square on Thursday, May 30th. The event featured a pride flag ceremony, a press conference, and a sneak peek of the upcoming Pride Drag Tea.
The ceremony began with the dedication of a giant rainbow pride flag on 17th Street, a powerful symbol of the city's commitment to inclusivity and diversity. Brittany Lynn, a renowned local drag performer, raised the flag and also entertained the crowd with a preview of the Pride Drag Tea.
The following press conference included remarks from local dignitaries, tourism officials, and community leaders. Tyrell Brown, Executive Director of Galaei (and Pride 365), highlighted the significance of Pride Month and the various events planned for the month-long celebration.
Sofitel Philadelphia's new General Manager, Pierre Jotterand, expressed the hotel's pride in supporting the local LGBTQ+ community and announced a new year-round charity partnership. Other speakers included representatives from the Center City District, Visit Philly, the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, and elected officials from the City of Philadelphia.
Following the press conference, attendees were invited to a reception inside the hotel's Liberté Lounge, where they enjoyed light bites and cocktails while previewing the upcoming Pride Drag Tea.
