Philadelphia, PA - Today, November 1, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. as a component of the Philadelphia Resilience Project, the City, is going to tackle a large-scale clean-up on Kensington Avenue. The 4 hr event is going to employ multiple city services and neighborhood volunteers to achieve the goal of the Resilience Project’s Mission Area 4, cutting down on garbage and litter.
Scores of city workers and public participants are going to be set up along cleanup routes. The City’s Community Life Improvement Program (CLIP) is guiding the clean-up effort and will organize City departments and neighborhood groups to position participants. CLIP will also be marking doors and windows of deserted properties. The Philadelphia Streets Department will supply blowers and mechanical brooms for cleaning the block. SEPTA will clean-up at transportation stops alongside their routes. Mural Arts Porch Light program is going to engage at 2774 Kensington Avenue. Philadelphia Water Department will thoroughly clean stormwater inlets. Licenses and Inspections will clean and seal residential properties in the area and examine open properties. Parks and Recreation will emphasis cleaning efforts on McPherson Square.
