PHILADELPHIA, PA – The 13th annual Garces Foundation Benefit, held on May 8th, 2025, at Live! Casino & Hotel successfully brought together hundreds of supporters for a festive "Latin Night Market" themed evening, all focused on a critical mission: aiding Philadelphia's underserved immigrant population. Hosted by Chef Jose Garces and Dr. Beatriz Garces, the event raised significant funds to support the Foundation's essential healthcare, educational, and dental programs.
The Garces Foundation addresses the considerable hurdles immigrants face in accessing necessary services, often exacerbated by linguistic and cultural barriers. Proceeds from the annual benefit directly fund community health days and English language classes tailored for those working in the demanding restaurant industry – a cause close to Chef Garces' heart. "We started the organization following the death of one of my cooks from thyroid cancer," Garces shared previously. "A life was lost due to a lack of access to medical care."
The success of the Latin Night Market demonstrates the community's commitment to this mission. Guests generously participated in silent and live auctions featuring unique experiences and items, sampled food and drinks from over 36 participating restaurants and beverage sponsors, enjoyed live music by De Tierra Caliente, and shopped at a market featuring immigrant artisans.
"Attending the Garces Foundation Benefit provides the opportunity to immerse oneself in immigrant culture... and make a real and tangible impact on the lives of our beautiful immigrant population," noted Foundation Board Chair David Weisberg prior to the event.
"Every ticket, every bid, every toast helps fund critical medical care and educational resources," added Foundation Executive Director Robin Morris. The vibrant energy and generosity displayed at the 2025 benefit underscored Philadelphia's support for the Garces Foundation's vision: a city where all residents, including immigrants, have the support needed to thrive.
