STONE HARBOR - Looking for a spot that breaks away from typical Jersey Shore dining? My wife, daughter, and I recently went for a family dinner at The Watering Hull—located at 261 96th St (#202) in Stone Harbor—and it was an absolute hit with all three of us.
A Nautical, Caribbean-Inspired Escape
Tucked away in a spacious second-floor venue, this place has a great, vibrant atmosphere that instantly transports you out of South Jersey and straight to the Caribbean. Between the bright white walls, swinging wooden portholed galley doors, and custom tabletops embedded with large ocean fishing lures, the nautical details are so fun and well-executed. It's a comfortable, relaxed setting that works just as well for a family dinner as it does for date night or a night out with friends.
Excellent Service & Dietary-Friendly Options
Right from the start, the service was top-notch. Our server was patient, exceptionally quick, and attentive to our whole table. One of the best things about their extensive Caribbean-inspired menu is how accommodating it is—alongside classic shore favorites, they offer a wide variety of vegan and gluten-free options, making it easy for any family or group to eat together without stress.
Standout Food and Killer Margaritas
Across the board, the food was very, very good. Here is what made our meal unforgettable:
- The Fries: Without exaggeration, these were legitimately the best fries I have ever eaten—crispy, seasoned, and addictive.
- Conch Fritters: Fresh, golden, and packed with flavor—a true island classic done right.
- The Taco Platter: Generously portioned, incredibly filling, and delicious. (Diners regularly rave about their fish tacos, gourmet burgers, and fresh poke bowls for good reason!)
- Coconut Sunrise Margarita: Easily one of the best margaritas I've ever had—smooth, tropical, and wonderfully balanced.
Between the transportive atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the standout food and cocktails, The Watering Hull exceeded our expectations. Whether you're in town for a weekend or planning around a special event (we'll definitely be back for a wedding later this year!), I highly recommend adding this second-story gem to your Stone Harbor list.
