Philadelphia, PA - The Rooster Soup Co. will be shutting its doors for the last time. The collaboration between Federal Donuts and the Broad Street Ministry’s Hospitality Collaborative launched in January 2017 and had rebranded its self this past summer as Jewish deli The Rooster.
Philly's Rooster Collaboration Shuts Down
The charity undertaking was the brainchild of Steve Cook and Michael Solomonov, also known as CookNSolo, along with their business partners at Federal Donuts.
In a letter made public, Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook stated that the philanthropic restaurant had not generated adequate funds to continue their mission.
The Center City restaurant opened in 2017 as a for-profit operation, with much fan-fair. However, 100% of revenues have gone straight to charitable organizations thanks to a collaboration with the Broad Street Ministry, which assists Philadelphians suffering from homelessness and hunger.
The Rooster will shut down for the last time immediately after service wraps up at 7 p.m. this Saturday, June 8th. There is no word just yet about what may be planned next for the restaurant's location.
