Philadelphia, PA - In Italian, Figo means "sounds cool," and the restaurant was. This restaurant has only been opened since October 2021 and has ample indoor and outdoor seating plus a lively bar.
Figo Ristorante & Bar in Philadelphia
After showing a couple of homes in Northern Liberties, Realtor Dana Friedman and I took our clients to dinner at Figo Italian, located at 1033 N 2nd St Philadelphia Pa 19123, in the Northern Liberties neighborhood near the Piazza. Figo is owned by Derek Gibbons and Tim Lu - owners of Glu Hospitality. We met Anthony Torcivia, regional Manager of Glu Hospitality, and our waitress Chloe.
Since it was "Wine Down Wednesday," there was 1/2 off select bottles of wine. We shared a fantastic bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon Twenty Rows Reserve. For appetizers, we shared the shrimp scampi with jumbo shrimp, lemon garlic butter, sun-dried tomatoes, and grilled bread, which soaked up the sauce.
We also had meatballs topped with house marinara, roasted garlic ricotta, basil, and more yummy grilled bread. We also ordered the lobster pizza with vodka sauce, ricotta cheese, mozzarella & basil. Our appetizers were a nice variety. For dinner, two of us had the Shrimp Gemelli - Jumbo shrimp, pesto cream, arugula, sundried & cherry tomatoes. I had Figo not include the red pepper.
Of course, I tried everyone's dinner, and this pesto pasta with shrimp was my favorite. The other diners had shrimp scampi with extra garlic balsamic ribeye with pesto pasta. Dana loved the shrimp scampi because she ordered it again as her main course.
For dessert, the restaurant surprised us with dessert! We shared Affogato with vanilla gelato. I loved the gelato - it was amazing. Dana's favorite was the tiramisu, and our client's favorite was the Chocolate dipped Cannoli used to scoop the Chocolate chip ricotta dip and the salted Carmel gelato.
