Michigan Bids Farewell to the Islands: Livonia’s Bahama Breeze Set to Close
The Livonia restaurant will officially cease operations on April 5, 2026, marking the total exit of the brand from the state of Michigan.
The Final Chapter for Michigan
This closure marks the end of a slow retreat for the brand in the Great Lakes State. In May 2025, Bahama Breeze abruptly closed its only other Michigan site in Troy, leaving the Livonia location as the sole remaining "island" for local fans.
While Darden plans to convert 14 other Bahama Breeze locations across the country into different restaurant concepts, the Livonia site was not selected for transition. Once the doors close in April, the site will be shuttered for good.
What This Means for Local Diners
Located at 19600 Haggerty Road, the Livonia spot has been a popular destination for its signature coconut shrimp, jerk chicken pasta, and legendary "Bahamaritas." Its departure leaves a gap in the local dining scene for those who enjoyed the unique Caribbean-themed, live-music atmosphere.
Focus on the Team
Darden Restaurants has stated that its primary mission during these final weeks is to support the staff affected by the shutdown. The company’s plan includes:
Internal Placement: Attempting to move as many employees as possible into new roles at other Darden-owned brands.
Continued Support: Providing assistance and resources to team members as the brand winds down.
"Going forward, the primary focus will continue to be on supporting team members, including placing as many as possible in roles within the Darden portfolio." — Darden Restaurants News Release
Final Call for a Tropical Escape
Residents have until Sunday, April 5, 2026, to enjoy one last tropical meal in Livonia. After that date, Michigan will officially be without a Bahama Breeze location.
