Humor and High Finance: Top Crypto Quirkiest NamesBitcoin’s launch in 2008 opened the floodgates for many new crypto projects. Many of those set out to improve on its shortcomings by catering to specific use cases. As with any industry, a subtle competition started among different crypto projects as each one struggled for the most market share, and "with investors continuously searching high and low for the next big crypto project," according to crypto expert, Alan Draper.

Since cryptocurrency prices are heavily influenced by demand, the obvious course of action for any new cryptocurrency is to solve bigger problems to drive investor attention, right? Many projects did go that route. Some others went straight for the attention, launching their coins with the quirkiest names.

Take $ASS Coin, for instance. This name is an acronym for Australian Safe Shepherd. The coin was created by a 26-year-old third-year nursing student named Liv. She created the coin as a meme coin during the era of moon plays and inside jokes in the crypto market. Interestingly, Liv started working on the project full-time when she realized over 70,000 individuals decided to purchase some $ASS within the first week of launch. The project’s focus is now to “further the goal of empowering women” by ensuring that several companies integrate it as a crypto payment method on adult video sites.

CumRocket is another name that raises eyebrows for its overtly sexual metaphor. CUMMIES launched in April 2021 in a bid to revolutionize the adult content industry. The project planned to create a blockchain-based NSFW (Not-Safe-For-Work) platform where users can communicate and share content while rewarding content creators with CUMMIES. With the porn website industry being valued at almost 977 million US dollars as of 2022, you have to admit that CumRocket might be on to something. But how about that for a name?

However, if you think that’s audacious, you probably haven’t heard about the Mafia Doge. This coin integrates the Italian Mafia organized crime theme with the popular meme coin Doge. While Doge was a payment system created as a joke, the Mafia Doge isn’t playing around. Or at least it claims not to be: “Anyone who affects the Doge family or even the crypto market will be punished by the name of Mafia Doge.” Okay, at this point, even the Mafia would understand if you couldn’t contain laughter any longer.

Discussing humor and high finance would be incomplete without the quirky Elon Musk in the mix. The crypto market has seen the rise and fall of Elon-inspired cryptocurrencies like Elonballs and Elon Sperm. However, many others, like Dogs of Elon, Elon Xmas, Chief Troll Office, Go Fu*k Yourself, and Tweelon, are still making moves in the market.

BITCOIN is another noteworthy crypto name among the quirkiest names. No, not the one by Satoshi Nakamoto. It's the HarryPotterObamaSonic10Inu. While there are many questionable things about this coin, like its 1,000,000,000,000 total supply, it's the name that grabs the most attention. The direct attempt at getting some attention by riding on BTC’s brand name is beyond laughable. However, we could say the same for many other cryptocurrencies in this piece.
