The 5 Most Stolen Cars in America RevealedPhiladelphia, PA – A recent study by the Sacramento Bee revealed the five most stolen vehicles in the United States for 2023. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), Ford F-Series pickup trucks topped the list with 47,999 units reported stolen. Coming in second was the Chevrolet Silverado, with 46,000 units registered stolen, and third was the Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee, with 12,210 reports of theft. The top five were Toyota Corolla and Nissan Altima with 11,890 and 11,813 thefts, respectively.

The NICB attributes their preference for older model cars to fewer security measures. The Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado are older vehicles that lack modern technology, making them more appealing to thieves. Kia Telluride is also on the list due to a flaw in its key-fob system that the automaker has since addressed. Lastly, the honda Accord and Toyota Camry have also been targeted by thieves due to their popularity and abundance of parts available for resale or disassembly.

“These statistics are a reminder that although modern cars come with better security features than ever before, it is still important to take precautions when protecting your vehicle from theft," said Chief of Police John Smith of the Philadelphia Police Department. "We recommend investing in an anti-theft device like an immobilizer or alarm system if you own one of these vehicles."
