March Cheesesteak Madness is a 64 cheesesteak entry bracket-style tournament that mirrors the college basketball tournament.  This year the early rounds will be completed by online voting.  The voting will be done on Phillybite.com.  The Final Four winners will be chosen by online voting, and judges eating and grade each cheesesteak.  We will have one March Cheesesteak Champion this year, and their name will be forever engraved on the Cheesy Cup!!  The winner will also be able to display the Cheesey Cup at their establishment.

The tournament is a bracket-style tournament.  The 64 Cheesesteaks are broken into four regions.  The regions are; 1. The Philadelphia region.  2. The Delaware County, Delco, region.  3. The NJ/DE region.  4. The remaining Philadelphia area county region.  This region combines Chester, Montgomery, Berks, and Bucks county cheesesteaks.

The selection process.  This was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  I went to my spreadsheet and sorted by cheesesteaks that earned a score of 90 or higher.  The regions were divided so that each region would have approximately the same number (36) of cheesesteaks that scored 90 or higher.  Then I had to get from approximately 36 cheesesteaks per region to 16 per region.  Yes, some well-deserving cheesesteaks didn’t make it to the big dance.  Sorry but there is always next year.  

Last year we had 2 champions; 1. A People's Champion; Donkey’s Place, Camden, NJ. And 2. A Judge’s Champion; Cafe Carmela, Northeast Philly.
