- March Cheesesteak Madness is a 64-entry Cheesesteak bracket-style tournament (same format as NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament). The cheesesteaks are broken into four regions; 1. Philadelphia (Philly), 2. Delaware County (Delco), 3. Other Counties region (primarily Montgomery, Bucks & Chester counties), and 4. New Jersey/Delaware region.
Meatheadz Cheesesteaks vs. Leo’s Steak Shop
Meatheadz Cheesesteaks has had a great tournament this year. The Final Four, 1st match, Meatheadz Cheesesteaks vs. Leo’s Steak Shop. Meatheadz Cheesesteaks won the NJ/DE Region. Leo’s Steak Shop won the Delaware County, Delco, Region.
Is it their new location with indoor dining?? Five years ago, Meatheadz stole my heart with their Dripping Steak. I think their regular cheesesteak has gotten better every year. Seeing the whole family working when we stopped by for the Final Four judging was nice. I guess I knew they had milkshakes.
Leo’s Steak Shop represents the Delco region. The first time I went to Leo’s, I called their cheesesteak a cheesesteak’s cheesesteak. Leo makes a big cheesesteak. Leo’s shocked me twice. 1st shock, I was shocked I hadn’t heard about Leo’s until I started my cheesesteak adventure. 2nd shock was how swamped they were. When you go to Leo’s, save room for their hand-cut french fries.
The Judges
We have 2 judges and the people’s vote for the final four. Each has an equal vote. The judges have split on several of the matches. The people’s vote matters.
