While touring the lighted area of the cave, be sure to visit the unlighted sections. Visitors can still see the fault line above; some of the cave's largest rooms are untouched by human impact. The visitors center's back deck offers a breathtaking view of the cave's surroundings, including five counties and the skyline of downtown Pittsburgh. You can even see horseshoes that date back to before the Civil War.

Although Laurel Caverns is not publically funded, it offers lower ticket prices than other caves in the region. The cave has been privately preserved since 1995 and is home to the largest natural bat hibernaculum in Pennsylvania. The cave is open seven days a week and can be accessed year-round. You can also reserve a pre-set souvenir package for the ultimate Pennsylvania cave experience.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can take a spelunking tour of Laurel Caverns, a five-kilometer cavern in southwest Pennsylvania. A spelunking tour will require you to use headlamps and navigate a rope from a high elevation - 45 stories below the visitors' center. You can also try gold panning or the world's largest indoor simulated cave, Laurel Cavernputt.
