Philadelphia, PA - This was a day of discoveries and a day of drinking and cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan and wingman Eric; we ended up with two cheesesteaks at Elk River Brewing.
Cheesesteaks and Beer's in Eikton Maryland
With 64 oz Growler fills at Elk River Brewing and Main Street Pizza & Steak shop down the street, State Line Liquors makes Elkton, MD the center of the craft beer universe.
I loved the décor at Elk River Brewing is on Main St, with a light grey country theme and lots of antlers. I also liked the many seating options, bar, front room, backroom. You can be as close to or as far from other people as you like.
We brought two cheesesteaks to Elk River Brewing. The first one was from Luna's Pizzeria & Italian Grill in Middletown. The second one was from Main St Pizza & Steak Shop.
Luna's Pizzeria & Italian Grill in Middletown
The first steak was from Luna's Special Steak, with fried onions, mushrooms, sweet peppers, three slices of cheese, and sauce. This cheesesteak looked good, but it had too much going on. It came with sweet peppers, and it had a lot of sweet peppers.
Worse, the sweet peppers didn't spend enough time on the grill. You can see a fair amount of cheese in the pictures. In the end, this was a lot of intense flavors that didn't want to work together.
Main St Pizza & Steak Shop
The next cheesesteak from Main Street Pizza & Steak Shop was located several stores down Main St from Elk River Brewing. We ordered a cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms. Amigo Dan raved about this cheesesteak, but like I say in the video, I think it had the benefit of being after 2 not very good cheesesteaks. This was a delicious solid cheesesteak.
The grill person definitely put some brotherly love into this cheesesteak. It had a perfect amount of cheese that was melted throughout the cheesesteak. The nice big chunks of fried onions added a nice flavor, and It came on a nice traditional roll.
