Gettysburg, Pennsylvania - Nestled in the rolling hills of central Pennsylvania, just a stone’s throw away from the historic Gettysburg battlefields, you will find the beautiful Baladerry Inn. The inn, built in 1812 and currently run by Judy and Kenny Caudill, is a wonderfully serene respite from the hustle and bustle of downtown Gettysburg, or a long day of walking the battlefields.
The Inns History
During the 3 days of fighting in 1863, the Baladerry Inn, along with the original stone farmhouse on Bushman Farm, served as a makeshift hospital for more than 1500 wounded soldiers. Today, there are 10 delightfully decorated guest rooms, each with their own bath, including 4 larger rooms and a 2-room suite in the Carriage House. A three-course breakfast is served each morning by a wonderfully warm and friendly server, either in the main dining room or outside on the porch – weather permitting. In addition to breakfast, there are Judy’s freshly baked treats, coffee, tea, and snacks available 24 hours per day, free of charge.
The Baladerry Innkeepers
The inn is run by Innkeepers Judy & Kenny Caudill who purchased the Baladerry Inn Bed and Breakfast back in 2010 and have continued the traditions guests have grown to enjoy from the previous keepers.
Judy and Kenny, and their staff, have a wealth of knowledge of the Gettysburg area, and are happy to share what they know. (Ask Kenny about the history of the inn!) They have prepared information on the many nearby restaurants and attractions, as well as personal tour guides for hire. The Gettysburg Battlefield and Visitor’s Center are a short, easy, 5-minute drive away – and you can be at the shops and restaurants downtown in less than 10 minutes. In addition to the historical sites in the area, the Baladerry Inn is a perfect home base for exploring the many apple orchards and cideries in the Central Pennsylvania area.
The Baladerry Daily Breakfast
The inn also offers guests a full country breakfast. Served daily in both the "Great Room" as well as, in season, on the terrace, between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. The dining room offers individual dining tables and unique breakfast items such as Baked Heavenly Peaches, Stuffed French Toast featuring Honey-Orange Butter Sauce and Sausage, as well as Blueberry White Chip Muffins, to name a few.
Guest can also enjoy complimentary hot beverages around the clock, as well as special dishes for guests with allergies as well as dietary requirements, by letting the innkeeper know during check-in.
