Here are some top activities near you on Memorial Day weekendPhiladelphia, PA - With Memorial Day is right around the corner, reaching out on behalf of the National Park Service as the long weekend is the perfect chance to visit our national parks in the Philadelphia area that celebrate freedom on which this country stands and honor those who fought for this freedom.

Here are some top activities near you on Memorial Day weekend:

·       Independence National Historical Park -  keeps memories of the American Revolution alive. Visitors can see the Liberty Bell Center and Independence Hall to view priceless artifacts from the 1700s. This Memorial Day, the park will be hosting a walking tour titled: Honoring the Fallen: Heroism and Sacrifice During the American Revolution.

·       Valley Forge National Historical Park - commemorates the perseverance of the soldiers during the Revolutionary War during the 1777-1978 winter encampment of the Continental Army. Tours are available all weekend, and a Memorial Day Observance will take place on Monday in partnership with the Washington Memorial Chapel and The Freedom Foundation.

·       Flight 93 National Memorial - is one of the most emotional memorials in the country. On September 11, 2001, 40 brave passengers and crew of Flight 93 disrupted an attack on the U.S. Capitol. The memorial recently opened in 2015 and Memorial Day is the perfect time to see the site and pay tribute to the fallen individuals.
