PhillyBite10MARYLAND - Stepping into Brass Balls Saloon felt like taking a welcome detour into vintage boardwalk history. After dodging the mid-morning sun, I pushed through the saloon doors and found rich wooden booths, walls lined with decades of quirky coastal memorabilia, and the comforting sizzle of the griddle. The establishment does not put on airs; it is an unapologetic, time-tested American tavern where comfort food and friendly conversation take center stage.

I arrived with an appetite primed for their famous boardwalk breakfast spread and ordered a stack of fluffy buttermilk pancakes alongside two eggs over-easy, crispy bacon, and home fries. The pancakes arrived golden and steaming, thick enough to soak up plenty of syrup without turning soggy, while the home fries had that coveted flat-top crispness. Taking in the sports commentary on the overhead screens while the servers effortlessly juggled morning beachgoers and regulars made me appreciate the saloon's staying power. Whether I stopped in early for breakfast or settled into a booth later for an award-winning half-pound burger, my trip confirmed why it is spotlighted among the top family-friendly boardwalk eats in Ocean City.
