OHIO STATE - The Buckeye State is officially on the countdown. After months of delays, legal disputes, and growing anticipation, Buc-ee’s has confirmed the grand opening date for its first-ever Ohio location. The massive travel center in Huber Heights will open its doors to the public on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.
Location & Final Details
The new travel center is located at 8000 State Route 235, situated at the northeast corner of the Interstate 70 and State Route 235 interchange. This strategic spot places it just north of Dayton, making it a prime stop for cross-country travelers on I-70 and locals alike.
Huber Heights Mayor Jeff Gore confirmed the date on social media, adding that local first responders from Montgomery, Miami, Clark, and Greene counties will be treated to a special "sneak peek" event on April 3, three days before the public launch.
Scale: One of the Largest
Ohio isn't getting a starter model; it’s getting a flagship. The Huber Heights location will be one of the largest in the chain’s portfolio:
- Size: 74,000 square feet.
- Fuel: 120 fueling positions covered by massive canopies (which were installed late last year).
- Parking: Approximately 700 parking spaces.
- Extras: Unlike some other locations, this site reportedly includes plans for a diesel repair center, though the standard "no 18-wheelers" policy for the main retail area remains.
The Road to Opening
The path to April 6 wasn't without potholes. The project, which broke ground in August 2024, faced several hurdles that pushed the opening back from its original late 2025 target.
- Utility Delays: Complications with relocating power lines and redesigning sewer infrastructure caused significant timeline shifts.
- Legal Dispute: A lawsuit between Huber Heights and neighboring Clark County over water and sewer service rights halted construction temporarily in late 2024. The dispute was resolved in December 2024, allowing crews to accelerate work through the winter.
- Liquor License: In December 2025, the city council approved the location's liquor permit, ensuring the store can sell beer and wine upon opening.
Economic Impact
As crews apply the finishing touches to the interior and exterior signage, the hiring process is in full swing. The location is hiring for over 200 full-time positions, offering the chain's signature competitive pay (starting well above local averages) and benefits package.
Come April 6, Ohioans will finally be able to judge for themselves if the brisket, the bathrooms, and the Beaver Nuggets live up to the Texas-sized hype.
