Eagles vs. CowboysPhiladelphia, PA - As the season winds down, the Eagles have somehow found themselves in a “win and in” scenario on Sunday. All they have to do is take down the Dallas Cowboys at the Linc, and they’ll take home the NFC East and thusly a home playoff game. The issue with that scenario is that the Eagles still have to beat the Cowboys.

NFL Week 16 Prediction - NFC EAST

NFL Week 16 Prediction - NFC EASTNot long ago, Dallas looked dead in the water after three straight losses, but after a resurgent win against the L.A. Rams at home, the Cowboys look back again. Virtually everything went perfectly for them in the rout, and this doesn’t bode well for Philly at all, especially with the Eagles having lost to Dallas already this year.

The Eagles barely knocked off the Redskins last week, thanks to a last-minute touchdown pass to wide receiver Greg Ward on a beautiful Carson Wentz loft to the end zone. Ward found a way to shield the ball from Redskins’ corner Josh Norman, making him the hero on Broad Street for a while ... but this can’t hide the fact that the Eagles have not been convincing in recent weeks. The secondary continues to get torched against second-rate passing games, and pressure on the quarterback happens seemingly once in a blue moon. Regardless of how much Carson Wentz can work magic, or how many ankles the Eagles running backs can break, it’s not going to mean much if the defense can’t hold up their end of the bargain.

Despite all these issues, just one win this Sunday is all Philly needs. Can they pull it off? I’m leaning towards no. I think the Dallas defense will do enough, and the Eagles defense won’t be able to slow down the Cowboys offense enough. I think it will be a nailbiter with likely several plays swinging the result one way or another, but Dallas will pull off the win and be crowned champions of the NFC East. Hopefully, Philly can prove me wrong.

Final Score: Cowboys 31, Eagles 27.
