Philadelphia's New PHLpreK Program Creates Teaching Opportunities

PHILADELPHIA PA – Mayor Jim Kenney's PHLpreK, the City of Philadelphia’s quality pre-K program, funded by the City of Philadelphia Soda Tax, has created 251 jobs to date. In a survey completed by PHLpreK providers last week, pre-K center owners and directors reported having created 191 teaching positions; 147 of which are full time and 44 are part-time. In addition, pre-K providers have hired 60 support and administrative staff members. The average wage reported is $14.72 per hour. Also See.. PHILADELPHIA, PA – In an effort to deter, if not eliminate, intimidation of witnesses and courtroom disruptions, the First Judicial District - Courts of Philadelphia, has partnered with Yondr™, a company specializing in creating phone-free spaces, to implement new cellphone and recording device restrictions at the Juanita Kidd Stout Center for Criminal Justice beginning Monday - April 3, 2017.
