Philadelphia, PAPhillyBite10 - The City of Philadelph ia Department of Human Services (Philadelphia DHS) is pleased to announce that it wi ll take action to end child support collection for youth in detention and delinquent placement,effective immediately.


Philadelphi a DHS Commissioner Cynthia Figueroa says, “Our priority is to reunify families safely and quickly; and this decision is a great move forward toward that goal as well as promoting family stability.”

This decision comes just six months after Commissioner Figueroa began her tenure with the department and four months after Philadelphia DHS formally requested approval from the State Department of Human Services to end the practice.

The decision to end child support collection for youth in detention and delinquent placement reflects the current administration and the department’s priority to support families throughout Philadelphia.
