Where to Salt Water Fish in New Jersey
New Jersey's beachside and shoreside waters provide a wealth of fishing spots, from sandy beaches, rocky jetties, inlets and back bays, as well as piers for those without access to boats or preferring land fishing. Surf anglers especially can make good use of these locations when targeting species like striped bass/stripers, bluefish fluke and weakfish - although these spots are also great spots if you prefer shore fishing!
1. Barnegat Light House
The charming town is an angler's desire. Located one the northern end of Long Beach Island, Barnegat Light straddling the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Barnegat Bay on the other, it's simple to understand why fishing at Barnegat Light is a unique enjoyment.
Family members can enjoy the fun at the small beach near the lighthouse and go after Bluefish and Fluke in the summer. 2. Sandy Hook

3. Cape May
Cape May is one of the nation's largest Striped Bass fisheries. The town is known for its Victorian houses and antique stores; however, the most exciting thing to do in the quiet ambiance is in the ocean.
Tautog, Flounder, Bluefish, Porgy, Sharks, Marlin, Tuna...the list of possibilities goes on. When it's the fall and spring, however, it's all about the monster Stripers. Because of the ease of access to the Atlantic and the Atlantic Ocean, a trip away from Cape May will have you swimming in clear blue waters within minutes. If you wish to remain inshore, Delaware Bay is just a few steps from the beach.
4. Atlantic City
It's impossible to complete this list without including "America's Playground." While Atlantic City might be well-known for its numerous bars, casinos, and legendary boardwalks, fishing remains integral to the culture of Atlantic City.
The protected lakes found in Absecon Bay offer a relaxing time on the water, home to large numbers of Fluke, Weakfish, and Striped Bass. In contrast, the depth of the Atlantic can be reached easily. Deep-sea fishing could be highly productive in catching Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Marlin.
5. Brigantine
If you are looking for saltwater fishing, Brigantine is among those charming towns along the East Coast that visitors often ignore. Many people prefer the nearby Atlantic City, meaning fewer tourists at Brigantine and more fishing possibilities for those interested!
Several jetties surrounding Brigantine are great for fishing, including the one at Absecon Inlet. Numerous beaches are ideal for surfing, particularly near Brigantine Inlet, with many bridges and docks.
Striped Bass is plentiful in this region throughout the year, so if you're looking for a trophy, Striper is what you're looking for. This is where you should be. Kingfish, Bluefish, Flounder, Tautog, and Black Seabass are all available. Sharks and Tuna will wait to bite your fish if you venture towards the open sea.
6. Belmar
The Shark River Inlet is known for being among its most reliable spots for fishing along the Jersey Shore. The inlet is a popular destination for anglers during the summer months to try their luck. Stripers, Fluke, Kingfish, Bluefish, and Black Seabass can all be found in this area. The fleet of boats could even take you to Atlantic waters if Tuna and Billfish are more your style.
However, that's not all! Lake Como holds Perch, Crappie, and Largemouth Bass if you want to diversify your fishing. Belmar is among the few spots in the Garden State with varied options.
