Philadelphia, PA - Tip O'Leary's, Havertown, PA. Tropical Storm Fay is gone, and the humidity is back. And, I get a message on social media that I needed to try Tip O'Leary's in Havertown Pennsylvania.
Tip O'Learys In Havertown Pennsylvania
I don't spend much time on route-3, but when I do, Tip O'Leary's doesn't seem to have a lot of cars in there parking lot. Except for that one particular St Patrick's Day when I was taking a rider from Newtown Square to West Philly, and the crowd from Tip O'Leary's spilled out onto Route 3 blocking the traffic.
I made a mental note that it was probably a typical Irish bar. Now when I say typical Irish bar everything, I know about Irish bars I learned from Peter Griffin on the TV show Family Guy.
I never thought I would be going to Tip O'Leary's for the cheesesteak, but was glad to get this social media tip.
I walked into a very diverse crowd., young couple, young family, old couple, attractive couple, and old couple meeting son-in-law or daughter-in-law.
The nachos looked terrific and I think the gentleman next to me was eating a burger, which also looked amazing.
I was soon greeted by a sassy bartender who handed me the menu with a choice of 2 cheesesteaks; the Classic and the Delco.
Tip O'Learys Delco Cheesesteak
I got the Delco cheesesteak. Once again, I wish I took a picture of the menu. From memory, it had fried onions, green peppers, red peppers, and habanero cheese.
The roll was delicious, I just wish it had sesame seeds on it. I did spot a Liscio's roll box as I was leaving.
The meat was excellent and did not get lost in the peppers and habanero cheese, it seemed more ripped than chopped.
The peppers and habanero cheese and were great add ons and not dominators.
This was a very well-made bar/restaurant cheesesteak. This is definitely the 1st date, impress the future in-laws, and/or get out of the dog house cheesesteak.
