We stopped in during a weeknight and were thrilled to discover it happened to be their all-you-can-eat crab night. In an era where seafood prices can climb quickly, finding a spot that delivers generous portions and genuine value is a major draw.

• The Steamed Crabs: The crabs were delicious, arriving piping hot and coated in a seasoning that struck the perfect savory, spiced note without overwhelming the crab meat's natural sweetness.
• The Drinks: The bar program holds up its end of the bargain as well. Their mixed drinks were really good, well-poured, and priced reasonably alongside a solid selection of cold draft beers that pair effortlessly with steamed seafood and shrimp.

An Honest Look at the Menu

When reviewing any seafood kitchen, being honest about the hits and misses is essential. While the steamed crabs, shrimp, and drinks were standout highlights, not every dish hit the same mark. On our visit, the stuffed flounder came out dry and was not my favorite entree of the night. However, when a kitchen excels so thoroughly at its namesake steamed crabs, beverages, and casual starters, a slight miss on a single baked entrée is easy to overlook.

Welcoming Hospitality and The Verdict

What truly tied the evening together was the hospitality. Our server was exceptionally friendly and attentive, keeping drinks topped off and crab buckets cleared with a genuine smile despite a bustling dining room. Between the lively atmosphere, perfectly seasoned crabs, great drink prices, and friendly service, everything else was more than good enough to win our loyalty. Gus's Crab Shack is a Port Penn gem, and we will definitely be back.
