Philadelphia, PA - On August 1st #Foodiechats, a Twitter foodie community, hosted their weekly Monday night LIVE #Foodiechats event at Moonshine Philly on E Moyamesing Avenue in South Philly.
Steve Green, Founder and CEO of #Foodiechats, is a Chicago native making his way across the country bringing together foodies to chat about their greatest love; food! This week, Steve reached out to local foodies in the Philadelphia area for a night full of socializing, eating, drinking, and fun. The event was sponsored by The Louisiana Seafood Board in honor of the 2016 Great American Seafood Cook-Off. Some of the foodies in attendance included, Tony Luke Jr., Chef Brian Duffy, Tony Bruno, Gervase Peterson, Diana Sabater, Roberta from Homemade Delish, and Visit Philly.
Co-Owner, Rich Fattori, and his staff offered unprecedented service in addition to a delicious menu served family style for the event. Moonshine, open for just about 3 years now after a total renovation, is rapidly growing into a preferred spot for locals and newcomers alike. With weekly fresh food specials and a vast drink menu consisting of craft and seasonal beer selections, wine, and signature cocktails there is something for everyone.
The night began with several appetizers including roasted pobiano and garlic hummus with pita bread for dipping, crispy calamari topped with fresh made pico de gallo over a bed of arugula and a side of spicy aioli, breaded and deep fried short rib balls served with a creamy horseradish sauce and extra gravy, and a mozzarella and tomato salad over pistachio pesto drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Immediately following appetizers, we indulged in a fluffy gnocchi covered in a light creamy pesto topped with blackened chicken bursting with spicy flavor, the most tender and perfectly cooked red wine braised short rib, which I literally cut with a fork, served atop bow tie macaroni and cheese with chopped grilled asparagus, and finishing with a sweet and tangy teriyaki salmon over velvety vegetable risotto.
The night turned out to be a great success with newfound friends, more social media followers, lots of laughter, and a dining experience that only validates Philly’s reputation for being a city of great food. Visit Moonshine Philly for daily happy hour specials, weekend brunch, or made to order dinner entrees that will supersede all your senses.
