Philadelphia, Pa - Craft beer specialty bars and restaurants are becoming more prominent and pose as an appetizing hobby for beer enthusiasts everywhere. Monk’s Café, a Belgian Beer Emporium, is home to over 300 world-class bottled and draft craft beers in addition to an impressive food menu, which includes 8 different types of mussels. Monk’s was named one of the Top 100 Beer Bars for the last 2 years, by Draft Magazine, among many other awards throughout their years of service.
The narrow and dim lit medieval European inspired restaurant features a small seating area with a view of the street around the main bar and a second secluded bar nestled in an intimate nook towards the back of the restaurant. Top notch service does not seem to be a priority at Monk’s as the servers and bartenders act rather annoyed by your presence at times. This may be part of the culture, but that I am not sure of. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, while the food comes out fast, delicious, and is reasonably priced. Parking is limited in this area of the city as is seating, so get there early on weekends.
Visit Monk’s Café this fall to get your craft beer drink on!
UPCOMING EVENT: On Saturday October 1st beginning at 12pm, Monk’s Café is hosting a CASH ONLY charity event where 100% of the proceeds will be donated to feed people in need. The event will include several ultra-rare beers, in addition to 3 beers that were kegged back in 2010.
